Upload and Download Speeds

Maximum: T1 speed (1.5 Mbps)
Typical: Current typical BWA bandwidth delivery is 256 Kbps download and 128 Kbps upload. RTA's CPE radios have a maximum delivery of 1.5 Mbps download and upload in ideal conditions. Typically 800-900 Kbps is realized. CPE radios can be managed to deliver defined download and upload speeds in 2Kbps in increments from 32 Kbps up to 1.5 Mbps. These settings can be changed to allow a specific end user more or less bandwidth as needed.

The system in place to deliver BWA to end users utilizes 2.4GHz ISM band radios with a maximum rate of 1.5 Mbps. The RTA network system will accommodate point-to-point or point-to-multi-point broadband applications in licensed or unlicensed bands to meet the needs of individual providers. Service providers may propose to use their own wireless system or RTA can assist in procuring a system to meet their need.

The RTA network currently provides 150 MB of aggregate bandwidth throughout the system. The network design is scalable to allow growth in existing markets and expansion into surrounding areas.

Average Tower Coverage Radius

Depending on the terrain and features, the effective range of each RTA tower is 10 miles. Coverage can be increased by 900MHz radios and 5.8GHz radios to deliver even more bandwidth when needed.

Redundancy-Reliability

The microwave paths were designed for 99,999% reliability. The average outage per hop is 162.09 seconds per year. Redundancy has been built into the system by way of loop configuration. In the event a hop fails, traffic is rerouted around the loop.
